Unlocking New Possibilities: Ozarks Food Harvest's Transformative Grant

Enhancing Food Distribution Capabilities

The grant funding from Ozarks Food Harvest has enabled the Texas County Food Pantry to purchase a new pallet jack and secure parts for their existing pallet jacks. This crucial equipment upgrade will streamline the pantry's food distribution operations, ensuring that they can efficiently handle and transport the essential supplies needed to feed families in the community. By investing in this infrastructure, the pantry can now sustain and even expand its food distribution efforts, reaching more individuals and households in need.

Strengthening the Pantry's Capacity

The Texas County Food Pantry was one of more than 70 organizations selected by Ozarks Food Harvest to receive an agency capacity grant. This strategic investment is part of Ozarks Food Harvest's multi-faceted approach to address the findings of the Missouri's Food Assistance and Hunger in the Heartland 2021 report, conducted by the MU Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security. By empowering local hunger-relief charities, Ozarks Food Harvest aims to enhance the overall capacity of the region's food system, ensuring that more individuals and families can access the nourishment they require.

Fostering Community Resilience

"This grant is a blessing as the children, families and seniors we serve continue to deal with economic uncertainty," said Pantry Food Department Manager John Randall. The Texas County Food Pantry's mission is to respond to the legitimate needs of the people who request assistance for the basic human needs of food, clothing, healthcare, and shelter. By providing this critical support, the pantry is not only addressing immediate hunger but also fostering long-term community resilience, empowering individuals and families to navigate challenging times with dignity and hope.

Ozarks Food Harvest's Commitment to Hunger Relief

Ozarks Food Harvest, the Feeding America food bank for southwest Missouri, serves 270 charities across 28 Ozarks counties. This capacity building investment is a testament to the organization's dedication to addressing the complex issue of hunger in the region. "These grant funds are an investment in the future of our community's food system," said Bart Brown, president/CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. "Increasing access to food is key as our network of hunger-relief charities continue to deal with the expanding cost of food and fuel."
