Last year, the event generated an economic impact of over six million dollars, and organizers are hopeful that this year's edition will be just as successful. "It's truly a privilege to get to do what we do and get to provide the atmosphere that we get to provide for athletes, you know, of all ages," says organizer Charity Waldron.

Expanding Inclusivity with ABLE Sports

This year, the Commonwealth Games have taken a significant step forward in promoting inclusivity by expanding the ABLE sports program. ABLE sports cater to intellectually and physically disabled athletes, offering them the opportunity to participate in a variety of events. "For intellectually and physically disabled athletes, and we grew that to eight sports this year," Waldron explains. "We're really excited about that and hope to be to continue to grow that in the future."
