A Tapestry of Seasonal Sounds

The Soli Deo Gloria Choir's holiday concert promises to be a captivating musical journey, weaving together the melodies and rhythms of the season. The one-hour performance will open with a rousing solo by Voelker, who will set the tone with a spirited rendition of "We're Gonna Shine Our Light!" by Vicki Tucker Courtney. This uplifting number will serve as a clarion call, inviting the audience to embrace the warmth and joy of the holidays. The program will also feature a duet of Andy Beck's "Carry the Light," performed by mezzo-soprano Deb Williams and baritone Larry Stair. This emotive piece will showcase the choir's versatility and the depth of its vocal talent. Complementing the choral performances, the concert will feature guest instrumentalists, including violinist Katherine Hodgson, cellist Rob Hoexter, and percussionist Ethan McGraw, adding layers of musical richness to the proceedings.

Spreading Holiday Cheer through Community Outreach

Beyond the concert at The Broadmoor, the Soli Deo Gloria Choir will also be spreading holiday cheer throughout the season with a series of caroling performances in downtown Colorado Springs. Every Saturday leading up to Christmas, groups of the choir's singers will take to the streets, filling the air with the timeless melodies of cherished Christmas carols."It's something we're doing just as a way to participate with the community," Voelker explained. "I love the way this music brings communities together. I love the way that it reminds us that there is more that connects us than divides us, and this is something that we all need a reminder of in the world that we live today."

Fostering Connection and Inspiration

The Soli Deo Gloria Choir's holiday concert is not just a musical event; it's a celebration of community and a testament to the power of music to unite and inspire. Voelker expressed his hope that the audience will leave the performance with a renewed sense of "expectant hope.""The vision of Soli Deo Gloria Choir is to broaden and deepen connection within our community — and beyond," Voelker said. "This concert is an opportunity for us to share the joy and unity that music can bring, and to remind everyone that the holiday season is a time to come together and find common ground."While the concert is free to attend, audience members are encouraged to make donations, with the proceeds benefiting the Empty Stocking Fund. Additionally, paid parking will be available at The Broadmoor, with the revenue also supporting this worthy cause. As the Colorado Springs community prepares to embrace the holiday season, the Soli Deo Gloria Choir's concert promises to be a cherished tradition, a musical celebration that will warm the hearts and lift the spirits of all who attend.
